SECTION 02
Project Description
During my time as Lead Designer at Tözün Interior Design Studio, I participated in the design and conversion project of DoubleTree by Hilton Tuzla in 2013. This project was one of the first Hilton branded projects for Tözün Studio and held both symbolic and technical significance.
Due to the hotel's proximity to the Tuzla shipyards, the majority of the guests are engineers, managers, or professionals connected to maritime and industrial operations. For this reason, the design had to balance comfort, functionality, and durability, catering to business travelers who require efficient layouts, sound insulation, and practical room amenities.
The lobby, bar, and restaurant areas were conceptualized with elegant yet resilient design lines to offer both an inviting impression and a professional ambiance. Meeting rooms were planned to serve corporate meetings, small-scale conferences, and workshops, considering flexible layouts and audiovisual infrastructure. The spa and wellness sections were designed to offer relaxation even in a busy industrial zone, leveraging a unique advantage of the hotel: thermal water access. The pool infrastructure shared with the old Tuzla Thermal Hotel added a unique wellness dimension to the guest experience.
Overall, the challenge of the project was combining luxury hotel standards with an industrial location, ensuring every architectural and interior detail withstands frequent use while meeting Hilton brand quality expectations. The result was a comfortable hub serving both as a workspace and a relaxation area for professionals in Istanbul's industrial sector.
