Hotels and Luxury Homes in Istanbul

Three Istanbul hotels shaped my practice: Crowne Plaza Laleli, a historic building converted into a hotel; DoubleTree by Hilton Tuzla, a business hotel by the shipyards; and The Westin Istanbul Nişantaşı, the brand's first hotel in Türkiye.

How We Work

    First meeting

    We review the space on site or from drawings and agree the brief and budget range. The first consultation is free.

    Concept

    Layout, material and colour palette, lighting approach. Typically 3–5 weeks.

    Construction package

    Technical drawings, details and specifications. Typically 4–8 weeks, longer for larger scopes.

    Materials & detailing

    Sample approvals, bespoke joinery details and supplier coordination.

    Site supervision

    Site checks so the design decisions survive construction.

Murat Yüksel

I graduated in interior architecture from Karadeniz Technical University and spent 15 years at the Istanbul-based Hande Tözün Design Studio, from intern to lead and senior designer, on Hilton, Westin and Crowne Plaza hotels. Since 2022 I have led cruise ship interiors as Head of Design at Cita Design Studio, and from my İzmit office I run hotel, villa and office projects in Kocaeli and Istanbul.

Which areas do you serve?

My office is in İzmit, Kocaeli. I work directly across all Kocaeli districts and Istanbul, take on projects in Sakarya, Yalova and Bursa, and run hotel and marine projects across Türkiye and abroad.

How does the first meeting work?

The first consultation is free. We review the space on site or from drawings and agree the brief and budget range together. The office works by appointment only; book by phone, WhatsApp or the contact form.

How long does an interior architecture project take?

Concept design typically runs 3–5 weeks and the technical/construction package 4–8 weeks, extending with scope. Site supervision continues through construction.

Do you work remotely on projects outside Kocaeli and Istanbul?

Yes. Concept, construction documents and material selection run through online meetings and shared drawings, with site visits scheduled at critical stages. Most of my hotel projects were built outside my home base, in Afyon, Antalya, Bodrum, Erbil and Istanbul.

What types of projects do you take on?

Hotels (chain and boutique), villas and luxury residences, offices and factory administrative buildings, restaurants and cafés, yacht and cruise ship interiors. Over 19 years I have worked on 15+ hotel projects, including DoubleTree by Hilton, Westin and Crowne Plaza.
